About KVK Establishment

KVK Rajgarh established in 1994 under Zone VII(now Zone IX) of ICAR and JNKVV, Jabalpur. After the establishment of new university RVSKVV in 2008, Rajgarh KVK comes under the administrative control of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Gwalior and financially (100 %) funded by ICAR, New Delhi through ATARI-Jabalpur. KVK is situated under X Malwa Plateau Agro Climatic zone of M.P. Total Farm land with KVK is 14.67 ha.

Mandate of KVK

  • To promptly demonstrate the latest agricultural technologies to the farmers as well as the extension workers of State Department of Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Fisheries/ Animal Science/ Non Government Organizations with a view to reduce the time lag between generation and its adoption.

  • To test and verify the technologies in socio-economic conditions of the farmers with a view to study the production constraints and to modify the technologies to make them appropriate.

  • To impart training to the practicing farmers / farmwomen, rural youth and field extension functionaries by following the method of teaching by doing and learning by doing.

  • To back-up the training and communication support to the district level development department, viz. Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Fisheries/ Animal Science and Non Government Organizations in their extension programmes.

Objective of KVK

  • Identify the problems associated with Vertisols under rainfed and irrigated conditions.

  • Enhancing the production and productivity of Soybean based cropping system by encouraging the adoption of latest agricultural technology like; use of suitable varieties, improved Agronomical techniques, INMs, IPM, post harvest technology etc.

  • Encouraging diversified agricultural activities (dairy, poultry, vermicomposting, mushroom production, bee keeping etc.) as a source of income generation for rural youths and farm women.

  • To enhance quality seed production of all crops through seed village scheme to meet the dearth of quality seeds.

  • Encouraging crop diversification to overcome problems of mono-cropping system and assure congenial soil health through Horticulture, Floriculture, vegetables , medicinal & aromatics and other crops.

  • Encouraging the soil and water conservation by adopting conservation techniques.

  • To create the awareness towards breed improvement and proper care and maintenance of milch animals.

  • Upliftment of socio-economic status of women with self help groups for employment generation through vocational trainings in cutting & stitching, embroidery etc.

  • Maintaining health status of women by creating awareness of health , hygiene and nutrition.
